Gellert Park (Km 3.6)

Gellert Park was also originally private property. The Burckhardt family of Basel had a summer residence here at the gates of the city since the 1820s. Between 1976 and 1986, parts of the Gellert estate came into the pos-session of the Christoph Merian Foundation as a result of donations and favourable sales. The Foundation had the park, rich in rare plant species, redesigned and made accessible to the public. Thanks to the new footbridge, it has been directly connected to the St. Albanteich since 1992.
